In one of the classes I subbed for last week the teacher left me plans that were pretty thin. As a result there was an hour at the end of the day where I was left with nothing to preoccupy a bunch of rambunctious third graders. So… I had them do exquisite corpse drawings. I didn’t give them any direction except how to make the drawings. I’d like to think what resulted was the strange, violent, and somewhat hilarious collective unconscious of a third grade class.
There are two artists who share my name that I have found via google.
One is a pretty run of the mill color square painter that lives in Austin, Texas ( http://sarahcferguson.com )
The other (who is by far my favorite) does paintings based on her imagined love affair with Hillary Clinton. She even has a blog that she posts imagined conversations with Hillary to.
this is the first thing I’ve loved that lady gaga has done.
it is so gratuitous.
i don’t even care that it is like the epitome of “self aware”

The middle schoolers I substitute for love me because I probably hate substituting just as much as they hate school.
And I don’t give referrals.
I’m subbing third grade for 3 weeks, so I will miss them, and when they ask me questions like “who is better lil wayne or eminem?” and “do you have a *giggle giggle* BOYFRIEND?”
Elementary schools kids weird me out, they always come up and hug me or want me to hold their hand on the way to parent pick up.
